Samsung Launches Brand New Handset

Pre Communicasia Samsung surprised us attendees with the launch of a brand new handset called the Jet. Of course there’s plenty more to come from the company but toady was the day of the Jet. A global campaign has been apparently underway for quite a while now as part of their UnPacked initiative and the handset has been kept under wraps, until its unveiling today. samsung
The new handset, a touchscreen of course, revealed the latest upgrade in Samsung’s mobile portfolio as it features an 800MhZ application processor running on Samsung’s TouchWiz UI version 2.0. A global winner, Simon Kramer was the very first person on the planet to be gifted the Jet handset and we were the lucky few who got to see it before it gets unveiled in London and Dubai in a little while. The phone was launched with no expense spared among some brilliant visual effects showcasing the handset’s various facets and features.
So without further ado, here are the features that the Samsung Jet will embody -
a 3.1 WVGA, AMOLED touchscreen display with 16 million colors
3D like UI with multiple desktops with Motion UI, Media Gate 3D and Multi-tasking manager
A 5 megapixel AF camera with Dual LEDs for a flash that features Face Detection, Smile Shot, Blink Detection and Geotagging
Samsung’s DNSe Sound engine and SRS WOW Sound Effects for audio with a 3.5mm earphone socket
DivX and XviD video playback
GPS with A-GPS
Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, Micro USB,
3G with HSDPA, EDGE/GPRS and Wi-Fi
The Dolphin Browser it’s loaded with will come with full flash support and come with an ad blocker as well. It’ll also feature one finger zoom, which I’m a little skeptical about. In a touch screen handset you usually use one finger to scroll up or down a page so I’m not sure how the zoom function will work unless there’s a scroll bar. More on this when I get to test the handset soon. The handset will also be able to support Microsoft Exchange Active Sync even though it’s not a Smartphone.
The handset will be available in an 8GB model with support for microSD cards up to 16GB. It’s priced at approximately Rs. 24,150. Add to Mixx!
