A device to diagnose cermical cancer in minutes.

  • A good news for cervical cancer patients. Thanks to the British scientists who have developed a device which reduces the diagnosis of cervical cancer to just a few minutes instead of weeks.
  • The device called APX looks like a TV remote control with a pen like probe on its end.
  • The device eases the trauma of smear testing for women.
  • The APX developed by Sheffield University operates by passing a very mild electric current into the cervix and monitoring it through its cells. It is a completely painless procedure. The cancerous cells are detected as they conduct electricity faster as compared to healthy cervical cells.
